Artwork location: Germany

This painting is inspired by my time spent at the Baltic Sea in the artist village of Ahrenshoop. I would often observe the changing light during sunset, which brought me joy, relaxation, and a sense of calm. This artwork is an abstraction of those mesmerizing light shows, aiming to provide a source of light and positivity during these challenging times.

The painting is an abstract, colorful, contemporary watercolor created on professional Arches watercolor paper. Certain parts of the paper remain unpainted, adding to the artistic composition. It is signed on the back and front and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.

The artwork is made using W&N watercolor, ink, and mixed media on professional Arches watercolor paper. Its style falls under Abstract Expressionism. It does not come framed and is not ready to hang.

Abstract Expressionism. Ready to Hang: No.

This piece comes with an official certificate of authenticity signed by the artist.

Gesa Reuter, Don't we all meed some light
Germany  • 1964

Presentation

Abstract landscape artist Gesa Reuter lives and works in Detmold, Northern Germany. Throughout her adult life, she has enjoyed arts education (workshops, courses, artists in resident programs etc) by a variety of professional artists from the Berlin University of the Arts, the VBK Berlin, the Art Academy Augsburg, and the College of Art and Design (Petersburg).

Inspired by Mark Rothko, Gesa's colours are usually applied in many fluid layers with mixed media. The many layers forming the painting, are similar to life itself. Reuter: “Each layer of experiences, adds depth to our personality. Good or bad, light or shadow. Most of my abstract landscapes are connected to my inner feelings and emotions, along with landscapes I've experienced. Sometimes there are bright blue worlds, sometimes many grey shades. Regardless, you will find a trace of light in all my paintings., as that means hope and future to me."
