Biography

Zhang Haiying lives and works in Songzhuang Artist Village, Beijing, China.

Zhang Haiying is a Chinese artist who says "no" when it come to his country’s politics. Even in his Anti-Vice Campaign series, the painter was dedicated to opposing the Chinese government’s crackdown on prostitution. The artist didn’t want to draw up a file on decriminalization but as an artist wished to portray their frail humanity.

It was that minset that the painter invested himself in a new series wich moved away from the previous socio-political themes. In a constantly powerful style, the artist completely devoted his art work to women who, beneath the surface of beauty and luxury accessories are weighed down by a sense of shame.

Zhang Haying does not limit his work to classical contrasts between shade and light but uses subtle contrasts of posture, finery, decorum, bodies and souls. The artist is a Genius who reaches out to merge all paradoxes and judgements to benefit the Human kind, thanks to the impeccable combination between brush, heart and mind.
