Jeanette Olyhoek

Netherlands • 1956

Biography

Jeanette Olyhoek almost exclusively paints "en Plein air" coastal oil paintings. Most often from the dunes and the sea near Wassenaar, The Netherlands. But she also paints at every beach in the vicinity, such as Katwijk,  or Zeeland, The Netherlands and Normandy, France.

Jeanette also sculpts, using the Waist Direct method, a method in which you let yourself be guided by the stone and therefore never know exactly what will arise. When she dabbles in abstract painting, she uses this same method using sand, plaster and paints to create something intuitively. With only determining the colours pre-emptively. Continuing to create until everything comes into balance.

Balance in each composition, as understood as a sculptor, is evident in each of her paintings.
