I explore how simple shapes, color, and pattern can become symbols that reflect the quiet rhythm and beauty of the world around us.
Ella Bay is a contemporary California–based artist whose practice centers on abstraction, clean geometric structure, and symbolic natural forms. Working with bold color, simplified silhouettes, and graphic line work, she creates compositions that merge mid-century modern aesthetics with Pop Art influences and contemporary surface-pattern design. Her visual language balances clarity and rhythm, exploring how minimal shapes can carry emotional resonance and function as universal symbols.
Ella studied at the Repin Academy of Arts, Faculty of Architecture, where she developed a disciplined approach to composition, spatial balance, and structural form. After moving to the United States, she expanded her practice by earning a Certificate in Surface Pattern Design from Saddleback College (California), integrating design thinking, decorative motifs, and pattern construction into her artistic methodology.
Her work spans painting, abstraction, and design applications for textiles, fashion, and interior décor. She often incorporates stylized botanical forms, geometric fields, and pattern-based sequences, creating artworks that feel both modern and timeless. Through repetition, color harmony, and symbolic elements, Ella invites viewers to notice the quiet order, beauty, and structure found in everyday environments.
Ella Bay has participated in several group exhibitions, and her works are held in private collections in Boston and Los Angeles. In 2025, she is featured in the exhibition “Cats vs. Dogs: A Portrait of Devotion" at ArtSeeker Gallery, New York. She continues to develop new series that merge abstraction, pattern language, and nature-inspired symbolism.
