Gang Chen

Chen Gang was born in 1978 in Beijing, China. He graduated from the Sculpture Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 2004 and is a member of the China Sculpture Institute, the China Urban Sculpture Association, and the China Mural Association. He currently lives and works in Beijing. Active in the field of contemporary art in his early years, Chen began to engage in public art practice in 2010, participating in the creation of numerous urban public art sculptures. In recent years, he has focused more on his inner world, dedicating himself to realistic easel sculptures with themes of realism.

The world I live in, or rather this real society, always has a natural opposition to my inner self, and a sense of discomfort runs through my life. I am trying to gradually adapt to them, and in this process, the force that opposes reality is fierce and heavy, but it has not changed the external world; instead, it has inwardly transformed me.
