Biography

Constant Nieuwenhuys (1920 - 2005), known as Constant, was an influential Dutch artist, architect, and thinker. He gained recognition as a co-founder of the CoBrA movement (1948 1951), characterized by spontaneous, expressive, and abstract forms. After his CoBrA period, he focused on his visionary architectural project New Babylon , which envisioned a utopian society centered on creativity and freedom. His work, deeply rooted in social and philosophical concepts, continues to inspire contemporary artists.
