Going out early in the morning at dawn to see what it feels like to still feel alive

Biography

Vanille Fiaux is a photographer, author, actress and director.

Born in 1984, she first trained at the École du Studio Théâtre d'Asnières and then at the École Nationale Supérieure d'Art Dramatique de Rennes, under the direction of Stanislas Nordey. After obtaining her acting diploma in 2009, she explored stage and screen before founding Fitorio Théâtre in 2012, a structure that allows her to combine theatre, music and visual arts.

It was in 2018, with the creation of the Du C(h)oeur des Femmes project, that she began using photography as a true tool for expression and communication. Her approach lies at the intersection of art and documentary: accompanying women with difficult life experiences, capturing their strength and vulnerability, and revealing their uniqueness through images. Over time, photography has become an essential part of her artistic work. Her work began in western France, in Nantes and then Angers, before expanding internationally.

Since 2021, his goal has led him to work in Africa and the Mediterranean.

She went to Cameroon in 2022, where she worked with local women's associations and supported them using the same model as in France.

She went to Italy (Palermo) for the first time in 2022, where she continued the development of the Du C(h)oeur des Femmes project and staged resilient women.

In 2022, she traveled to Ethiopia to photograph incarcerated women in partnership with the Justice for All association at the request of the French Embassy, and developed projects around women's rights; the following year, she responded to a commission from the Alliance Française for the Olympic Games exhibition.

She first went to Djibouti in 2021 and has returned regularly ever since, and she regularly collaborates with the French Embassy, local associations and UN agencies (IOM, UNICEF, UNHCR) to document cooperation projects and events such as Migrants Day, Children's Day or the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence.

Today, Vanille Fiaux is establishing herself as a committed photographer, whose work highlights invisible life stories, questions the place of women in society and explores the power of art as a lever for social transformation.
