Kofi Olive is a French alternative artist born in 1981. He lives and works in Belgium.
A renowned tattoo artist, he also practices painting and graphic design. He draws his inspiration from different movements including tattoo, comic strips and urban art. He says he has been very influenced by Terry Gilliam, Basquiat and by the hiphop movement of the 90s.
His urban influence can be perceive in his art thanks to his use of recovered wooden boards, sometimes intentionally degraded for some of his paintings. The addition of dripping (which is widely use in street art)accentuates the "trash" aspect which gives a more complex and contemporary interpretation of his oneiric and infantile illustrations.
