Japanese painter and printmaker, Hiroshi Asada (1931-1997) was born into a family of nihonga, artists working according to the conventions, techniques and materials of traditional Japanese painting. After studying economics at Kyoto University, he devoted himself to painting in the tradition of Western masters, under the influence of Shinseisaku Kyokai. In her work, Asada deals with the psychology of everyday life, through still lifes, with a touch of surrealism.
