Presentation

The photographer Joost Wensween was born in Holland in 1970. His passion started while he was still at school where he was an enthusiastic member of the photography club.

Self-taught, he develops his own prints and worked mainly in black and white. His art was transformed with the arrival of digital photography. He began experiment with colour as well as creative editing. The seemingly realistic scenes he presents are in fact made up of several superimposed images. The artifice only becomes clear when the images are carefully observed. Wensween is very interested in painter Carrel Wilink's magical realism and his style inspired the series "Statue" where the photographer placed ancient statues in modern landscapes.
