George A Bidmead is a British painter who was born in 1982 in Bath. He studied art, illustration and design in Bath and then in Brighton. He then moved to Somerset county.
George A. Bidmead's painting is the result of a long introspective work. The artist draws his inspiration from his memories and from his physical and/or emotional sensations to depict autobiographical scenes on his canvases. His favorite subjects are masculinity, virility, homosexuality, identity, spirituality, addiction and the fragility of the human being. The characters that he paints are not represented in all their superficilaity, but in the integrity: their fears, their weaknesses and their thoughts are put on the spotlight by the painter. In Geroge A. Bidmead's work, there is the idea that the human being is not invincible. Lost in this vast disorder called life, he doubts and questions himself. His weaknesses which he often prefers to hide are in fact the signature of his humanity.
George A Bidmead's paintings are dynamic, colorful and poetic. The layers of paint are left visible, and the dark backgrounds contrast with the fluorescent acrylics used for the characters on the foreground.
In 2015, a painting from his collection "Coming Out Party" was selected by Ernesto Esposito for the exhibitions "Face to Face" in Italy.
