Akané Kirimura

Born in: 1952 Japan
Akane Kirimura was born in Japan in Kyoto in 1952. She studied at the Fine Arts University in Musashino and graduated in 1976, with a specialization in engraving. She then stayed in Paris (at the Cité Internationale des Arts), New York and Italy before moving to France in Paris. She exhibited her works in many countries.

Her work is focused on water and light. She believes in mixing techniques, and mainly uses etching, embossing printing and also watercolors in her sculptures. Her favorite colors are black, blue, white and ocher.

Akané Kirimura received many awards in Japan, France and Spain. She also received the Livre d'Artiste award from ADAGP at the Salon d'Automne (Paris) twice (2014 and 2010), the creation award at the ninth Biennial "Livres à Voir" in 2012 (Arras), A special Mention at the International Engraving Contest "Ferrol 95" in Spain in 1995.

She has exhibited in several public collection: Bibliothèque Nationale de France, National museum in Krakow, New York Public Library, the Ayuntomiento Ferrol, the Florence Association, the Tama Art University (Japan) etc..

Until 2015, she did solo exhibitions in several countries like France, Spain, Switzerland, Germany, Japan, Italy and the Netherlands.
