Director of ICART and founding president of the Artistik Rezo association, Nicolas Lasserre-Laugero's productivity and drive is inspiring. As an avid street art collector, urban art is central to his interests and lies at the heart of his past times. However, his impressive resumé doesn't end there, he is also director of Fluctuart which as the name suggests, is the first floating urban art centre. Fluctuart promises viewers a “place of abundant activity," and will soon be docked at the foot of Pont des Invalides in Paris.

Artsper: Where does your passion for street art come from?

Nicolas Lasserre-Laugero: My passion began about twenty years ago, whilst living in the La Buttes aux Cailles district in Paris' 13th arrondissement. It's an area flourishing with street artists, and I immediately remember thinking that the urban art scene was exceptional because of its liveliness, receptiveness and accessibility.

Artsper: You will soon be introducing Fluctuart to Paris, the first floating urban art centre, can you tell us about this project and what inspired it?

Nicolas Lasserre-Laugero: Along with Géraud Boursin and Éric Philippon, our proposal won the “Réinventer la Seine" (Reinventing the Seine) project, launched by the Paris city council and Haropa. We wanted to materialise a place that we had always dreamt of; a culturally rich space with a specialised library, and exhibition spaces dedicated to the urban art scene.

Artsper: You're also the director of ICART, School of Cultural and Art Market Management, how do you see the future of the art market? What main trends do you think will emerge in the coming years?

Nicolas Lasserre-Laugero: I have been director of ICART for 4 years now. Students leave our 5-year professional training courses with two MBAs, specialising in the Art Market and Cultural Engineering, and can find courses in Bordeaux, Lyon, Paris and soon Lille. This sector is extremely dynamic and has good employability rates. The art market is doing well, and Paris remains a vital city with its major galleries and auction houses. Online sales continue to grow, especially in small stocks. Our students are bright and ambitious, and they are extremely committed to realising their cultural ambitions.

Artsper: If it isn't too intrusive, which artists do you aspire to collect?

Nicolas Lasserre-Laugero: I continue to support and encourage the artists I had always cherished. Above all, I aspire to continue to develop exciting projects, and contribute to making art and its values more accessible.

Artsper: Do you have favorite places to see street art in Paris?

Nicolas Lasserre-Laugero: Art is everywhere and is accessible to everyone. You have to discover it to truly enjoy the surprise!
