Presentation

Arnaud Prinstet rubs shoulders with art from an early age. Her mother is a drawing teacher, and her grandmother carefully preserves all of her daughter's achievements. When visiting his grandmother, Arnaud has the impression of being in a museum. He turned to Art, disappointed by his work at the university following his engineering studies. He then took drawing lessons. He decides to go to study in an art academy in New York, where he touches at the same time painting, sculpture, drawing and engraving. But his choice is already made and it will be painting. Arnaud has always been fascinated by the face. Why ? Because so many emotions are conveyed by facial expressions. “The face is something that touches the mystery of the person,” he explains. And why precisely the self-portrait? Because for him, the exercise of the mirror is a spiritual exercise. He thus questions himself on life, on this existential quest that touches everyone. “What interests me is this paradox between the image of ourselves and the one that others send back to us. I focus on what is beyond this face ”. For 10 years, Arnaud Prinstet has painted his self-portrait every day. Through this regular exercise, he seeks to achieve universality by ensuring that he is always authentic: “I work in one go, without retouching”. The portraits evolve over its evolution, its progress.
