Biography
A graduate of the École Supérieure d'Art et de Design d'Orléans, Bulle Derouette developed a multidisciplinary approach early on, where painting, photography, drawing, and ceramics interact in a shared energy. After 12 years in Paris, during which she created hundreds of illustrations for L'Oréal, Lexmark, Zippo, and SFR, she returned to Orléans in 2011. She exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Orléanais in 2015 and became a member in 2017, before joining the Taylor Foundation in Paris in 2020.
Through her materials, she summons a joyfully irreverent feminine. Her ceramics, which she defines as "the highlighting of her pictorial work," extend the pulsation of her painting onto the material. The installation Lobules 286, composed of 286 breasts arranged like the holds of a climbing wall, fully embodies this approach. Each breast becomes both a support point and a memory. By evoking the lobules (milk-producing structures, but also a possible site of cancer), the artist inscribes the vulnerability and power of bodies at the heart of her gesture.
