This vibrant and dynamic work captures a contemporary urban scene, filled with symbols and elements typical of street art.
The composition centers around an industrial metal bridge in Barbès, firmly anchored in the center of the canvas. The bridge, with its bold geometric lines and metal rivets, provides a striking contrast against the soft silhouette of the building in the background, whose orange tones warm the scene.
Below the bridge, a white truck moves, displaying an imposing graffiti on its body, testimony to the underground culture and free artistic expression that dots the city.
The stylized graffiti letters add a touch of energy and movement, bringing the composition to life. The graffiti touches also extend above the bridge, where an inscription in colorful letters adds an extra dimension of authenticity and rebellion. White birds, beautifully standing out against the blue-green sky, bring a sense of lightness and freedom, contrasting with the robust structures of the city. The Pulse tag first appeared on a winter evening in 1996. Faced with the rapid proliferation, the pseudonym found in haste will remain as a second identity, a character in its own right. Co-founder of the Parisian graffiti group XIT, his work has been visible to all for over 20 years now. And in parallel with his wild and frenetic practice, he has more recently begun a pictorial research work on canvas. The interpretation of spontaneous gestures, its recurring forms and color in an urban environment constitute the vocabulary that he brings back to the intimacy of the canvas with a view to sustainability.
Since 2021, Puls has been developing on canvas and in the street a style that evokes the Geometric Abstraction of the 70s, gradually making the overly obvious name of graffiti disappear in favor of shapes and colors with pure balance.
