Michel Guéranger, born in 1941, lives and works in Paris. Michel Guéranger is a painter, a graphic artist and a photographer. Ever since the 1960, he's worked on a rich and varied work shown in many exhibitions at galleries around Europe, the United States and South America. It is also found in public and private collections.
The artist has constantly been exploring the problematic of space, as first of all he focused on its laws' and perception dynamics within the group Space. He then turned to the temporal dimension of velocity (in cooperation with the automotive as well as the aerospace industries) and moved on to the ephemerality of natural supports such as mountains (painting on snow on the Mont Blanc). Experimenting has enabled him to deepen his partial approach of the universe and to emphasize the harmony between the cosmic levels: from infinitely big (paintings and aerial photographies) to infinitely small (macrophotographies of water metamorphoses).
In his latest works he has accomplished a fertile confrontation between his own idea of aesthetics and the qualities of water. Is water a universe in itself or is it confined to its own limits and thus a part of the universe? Is water observed from an outer place or when diving? Is it a distant halo or a closeby spot, running at high speed or set in its eternal trace?
The art of Michel Guéranger constantly arouses questions about the situation and the moment of looking, about the nature of reality and the place of Man within.
