Presentation

Michèle Destarac is a self-taught artist born in Yerres. Her work was shown for the first time in the 4th Paris Biennial, in 1964, when she was only 20 years old.

The quality and precocious maturity of her practice draw the attention of Jean Pollak, the Director of the prestigious Ariel Gallery.

She becomes one of the gallery?s artists in 1969 and has the opportunity to meet numerous personalities of the art world (such as Karel Appel, Asger Jorn, Pierre Alechinsky, Jacques Doucet, Olivier Debré), which was quite rare for an artist her age.

Her work is a part of several public collections: Musée National d'Art Moderne / Centre Georges Pompidou (Paris), Musée de la ville de Vitry-sur Marne, Burden Collection & Carter Burden Collection (New York), Art Gallery & Technic University of Trondheim (Norvège).

She is represented today by the galleries Ariel (Paris), the Galerie des
Tuiliers (Lyon), and Galerie Le Domaine Perdu (Meyrals, Dordogne).

She has been also working with the Italia Gallery in Alicante, Spain since 2006.
