As part of the exhibition “Un certain regard", Sébastien Langloÿs offers us a series of small busts created especially for this event.
This series of busts illustrates in three dimensions what automatic writing was for the surrealists.
By letting his mind create alone, Sébastien literally gives the keys to creation to his unconscious.
The only connection to the outside life is the starting point of each of these sculptures:
Sébastien starts from a photo given to him by an art lover.
From this photo he makes his starting point for the journey and the discussion with the earth.
After this first draft, he lets his hands create in perfect freedom, listening only to the feeling dictated by his unconscious.
The hands move on their own while the work rotates on the stand.
The name given to each of the sculptures is the name of the impression felt when creating the work, embellished with the particularity brought by Sébastien, with the mirror writing.
These sculptures are, in a way, the mirroring of these initial photos, modified by the filter of Sébastien's unconscious.
