Presentation
GraffMatt, whose real name is Matthieu Lainé, is a French artist born in Savoie. He lives and works today in Chambéry. As his artist name GraffMatt suggests, the artist draws his inspiration from the world of graffiti and street art. Citing hip-hop among other elements of the urban scene as his inspiration, GraffMatt is fascinated by this freedom of expression born in the street through graffiti, art, music and dance. Using a diverse combination of acrylic, spray paint and felt-tip pen on canvas, Graffmatt creates classic portraits and cityscapes. His works are detailed and disruptive paintings composed of the artist's strong grasp of patterns and color. GraffMatt’s emerging talent was discovered a decade ago when he began to exhibit his work throughout France in group and solo exhibitions, having since also participated in exhibitions in Belgium and Switzerland.
