Ernesto Ercolani

Ernesto Ercolani was born in Ascoli Piceno on 18 February 1909 . Despite a brilliant start, he left the "Stabili" classical high school, where he was enrolled, to devote himself to painting. 

The memories, albeit subtly ironic, of Morandi’s still lifes remained for a long time in his painting of his first teaching. He was immediately noted for the sarcastic and humoral charge of his painting, sensitized by the readings and the authors. What interested him most was the man and his relationship with society. He died in Ascoli Piceno on 23 Jan. 1974.
