Jacques Gorde (1943 - 2009) is the power in the pure state. Without the slightest concession, he painted by necessity, by breathing, as the only possible encounter with himself, and the strongest means of reaching out to others. What surrounds him inspires him, to bring out his evocations of life.
For all his paintings are underpinned by this vital force that inhabits him. A power that he decided to let go when the daily made him bad turns. Bulimic of everything, he invested himself body and soul in each painting, weeks, sometimes months, on the tunes of operas or rock. No matter, he gets carried away, lets out the color in massive or subtle layers from where, as if by magic, the forms appear.
Suggestive, his painting does not show but gives to feel, to vibrate, to live.
Whether he is treating the woman, the city or his passion for Venice, everything is in the impression.
A management of the atmosphere that he expresses with his instinct and which opens irrevocably to all.
It is not by chance that it triggers at each of its exhibitions a general craze.
