This striking artwork presents a female figure in a bold, contemporary graphic style. Dressed in a traditional dress with a laced bodice, she sports a distinctive bonnet and modern glasses, merging past and present. The vibrant colors of orange and black create a strong contrast, immediately drawing the viewer's eye. The composition is dominated by thick lines and linear patterns, accentuating a pop art aesthetic. She holds a beer mug in each hand, perhaps symbolizing a celebration or cultural tradition. Presentation
Ewen Gur is a French artist of German origin, born in Ambilly and now based in Tours. He grew up in the Loire Valley, where he began drawing at a very young age, influenced by Franco-Belgian comics, video games, and popular culture. Authors like Franquin and Gotlib had a lasting impact on his approach to drawing, storytelling, and line.
Trained in applied arts and visual communication, he developed early on a cross-disciplinary practice blending illustration, design, and music. A former jazz and rock musician, and bassist in several bands, he naturally incorporates rhythm, energy, and improvisation into his pictorial work.
Having lived in Berlin for many years, he built an artistic career firmly rooted in the contemporary urban scene. Influenced by street art and outsider art, he notably created a painting on an original fragment of the Berlin Wall, collaborated with international brands such as Fila for whom he designed six shoe models, and conceived artistic window displays for Galeries Lafayette in Berlin.
His work is regularly exhibited in Europe and internationally, in collaboration with renowned galleries such as the Raab Galerie in Berlin and the Kunsthaus Artes. In 2025, he returned to Tours, continuing his artistic journey between European graphic heritage and urban culture.
Her world is distinguished by bold black outlines, precise lines, and vibrant pop and rock-inspired colors. At the boundary between figuration and abstraction, her works offer a playful yet critical perspective on the contemporary world, exploring the excesses of consumerism, urban life, and its contradictions.
