I need a way of painting that keeps it suspended, the painting must speak of the moment of painting, of the feeling of being alive while painting, of the desire to paint.
Biography
Stephan Laplanche was born in 1970, he works in Paris and in the Perche. After a career as an illustrator in communication and children's publishing, he decided to devote himself entirely to painting, practiced since always but reserved for a small circle of friends.
He had his first solo exhibition in 2004 at the Michael de Zutter gallery in Knokke, Belgium.
Since then, he has been represented by several important galleries in France, Belgium and the USA, including Galerie Nicolas Plescoff in Paris, Galerie Pierre Hallet in Brussels and Galerie Honfleur in Washington.
Currently, his work is defended by the Didier Devillez gallery in Brussels, the Artfloor gallery and the Christophe Gratadou gallery in France.
His abstract work in oil or gouache has color as its object and emotion and desire as its subjects.
His paintings and works on paper are featured in numerous collections, notably in France and Belgium.
