Cédrix Crespel is a French painter born on February 9, 1974. At first a draftsman / designer in a design office, then art gainer, he very quickly moved towards a much more creative expression such as design, interior architecture, music, and especially painting that he has always practiced. This atypical career makes him an emblematic artist of a generation stemming from pop, rock and urban culture, open to his time. Resolutely contemporary, the whole of his work seduces by the richness of his analysis and his energy. Singular, sulphurous, modern, both rich and accessible, his style makes his work recognizable from the first glance. However, despite an apparent linearity, the work of Cédrix Crespel is not satisfied with any string and is constantly renewed. Multidisciplinary, he has the ability to draw from everything that surrounds him and draw inspiration from a thousand horizons to constantly feed his favorite theme: women. Alternately solitary and mysterious in her early days, personified and freed from all sociological normativity in “My Friends”, or even mythical in “BullS, HORSES and GirlX”, she is honored with every brushstroke. The canvases exude sensuality and eroticism without ever falling into vulgarity. Better still, Crespel transcends the codes of the genre by integrating the explicit. The poses are delivered straightforward, the bodies minutely detailed. But no pornography. Crespel shows without hypocrisy, while feigning suggestion and evocation. The superposition of the layers and the richness of the compositions create the illusion and add to the elegance of the gesture. Finally, by appropriating the contemporary dynamism that he associates with a total freedom of tone, by exploring the different faces of femininity, he was able to grasp the codes of the 21st century and paint the portrait of an eminently modern woman. -------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------- Sebastiaan Straatsma Born in 1972. Lives and works in Netherlands. After obtaining a doctorate at the Academy of Design in Eindhoven, Sebastiaan Straatsma starts from the observation that a certain number of objects, including vases, lose their initial meaning and function, to become “bulky non-objects”. ". Omnipresent in our interiors, can be found in all kinds of stores up to opulent auctions of Christie and Sotheby's. Precious, old or contemporary, they are no longer used for their primary function, but as works of art in their own right, symbols of the past, of good taste, revealing of a social status. Emancipating himself from tradition, the artist fully assumes this new status and designs them as receptacles for stories according to his fancy, a bit like preventing people from going around in circles ... Through epoxy resin his vases , all unique and named "Dustcollector", are perceived as paintings, representing in turn mythical, biblical and contemporary codes. On existing, classic forms of his own creation, he affixes decorations and characters, creating relief and color schemes. Due to the material used, a game of mesh, interlacing similar to a fishnet, plays with light. This lace appearance gives it a great lightness, sometimes contrasted by more raw parts. In parallel with his production Sebastiaan teaches design in prestigious schools including the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam. His work is already present in several museums in his country as well as in galleries. -------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------- Juliette Clovis Born in 1978. Lives and works in Aquitaine. Juliette Clovis is a French artist whose plastic work is organized around the 3 main themes of the relationship between man and nature, the opposition between life and death and the dialogue between tradition and modernity. Fascinated by the wild beauty of nature discovered during her various travels, the artist is inspired by it to create human jungles and explore the wild aspect of the body. Combining ambiguity, Juliette's work oscillates between a prophetic painting announcing the birth of a new living species, a human silhouette with a face that is half animal, half vegetable; and the preliminaries of a certain death caused by a greedy nature eager to take back its rights. The work is material and the material is work in the work of Juliette Clovis. After having worked for 10 years on a very particular cutting technique to create his paintings, the artist turned to sculpture. Since 2015, nature has emerged from Juliette's paintings to invade her new Limoges porcelain creations. As a logical continuation in the artist's creation, his subjects also take shape under his fingers and fill with material for a 3-dimensional reality. The choice of this noble and classic material, the opposite of those used in his paintings, allows him to confront his deeply contemporary vision of art through a traditional and ancestral technique. His work is exhibited regularly in France, the United Kingdom, the United States and Hong Kong.
