Marian Fountain presents an astonishing series of sculptures -bronzes- executed very finely in their smallest details and nooks and crannies, both in the shaping of her dreams and telescoping as in the casting then the finish - patines, waxes, colors ... Drawing from the stories from her New Zealand homeland and in cultures as diverse as Cycladic, Mayan, Khmer, medieval… she mixes her alternative observations of human experience with the suggested characteristics of our connected world. Marian's sculptures are, literally and figuratively, double-sided: the backdrop reveals the depths of the meaning of her work, like inseparable diptychs. How to connect, connect us without older ties? How can we not see in his “Dog eat Dog” or his “Noyau” that the circle is always complete, that the forms which are the most constitutive to us (bones, plants, embraces, desire ...) remain permanent over time, even when this current tends towards dematerialization. A bronze bone is heavy, immemorial, animalistic, it imposes it and yet it manages to convey a lightness of the sign, of the signal, like an animist call emitting towards distant and future galaxies. Each of Marian's play is a tale in itself, or an acid delirium, or both. It is impossible not to go back, light years away from our species, when, around a sculpture, we perceive a powerful wink, like a Gepetto bringing us back to an innocence (imagined?)
