Léopold D. Séguéda (Segson)

Born in Ouagadougou Burkina Faso, Leopold D. Segueda returned to the family village at the age of five. In the village of Zabre in the south to Ghana, the boy listens to the strange stories told by the old men about life, men and animals, and paints on the walls of his grandmother's house. Until CM2 he practices drawing at school and is noticed by his good grades in this discipline. He left the village to continue school in Ouagadougou. A crisis about studies pushes the young eighteen-year-old Leopold to assert his vocation for drawing against and against family will. Resigned, Leopold's mother presents the young man to the painter Zare Fayssal, one of Babs' pupils.

From 1996 to 1999 the young man learns the techniques put into practice by his teacher. Since 1997, Leopold Segueda has been painting and painting for the first time in a completely instinctive way.
He learned his master's technique until 1999, when he left the master's studio to develop a style that was deliberately different from 'Bab's' school.

Figurative as his teacher, Leopold D. Segueda said Segson represents scenes of city and village. But it gives trees a soul while humans are caricatures sometimes seem ridiculous.

Even in the representation of urban scenes nature takes a more important place more worthy than the place occupied by humans lost in a chaos that only nature knows how to make harmonious. The humorous characters, broom heads, big bellies, women with big buttocks, trim their carnal envelopes on the floor strewn with the products of their consumption. Nature in its vast dimensions extends beyond the canvas and reaches the infinite through the sky and the earth.
