Born in 1968, in the small town of Vojnuv Mestec in the Czech Republic, Karel Malivanek is currently one of the most well-known local glass artists. The artist graduated with from one of the oldest glassmaking schools in Svetla and Sazavou, and immediately after graduation, he was invited to join the glass art-making team of the Bohemia Glass foundation.
In 1995 Karel Malivanek established his private glassmaking studio, which still operates. The artist created over 600 art object designs for leading home design studios. Raw materials, which have been plentiful in the Czech lands through the centuries, give Czech glass its remarkable quality and strength, and stability that makes it ideal for cutting and engraving, as well as the variety of other techniques and traditions – painted glass, blown glass, mold-melted glass – that have been passed down through the generations.
Karl's sculptures and art objects are notable for their simplicity of color and purity of forms, where the main thing is the consonance of the work of art with the environment. There is nothing superfluous in his works, and the sculptural forms never repeat and remain completely unique. Karel's artworks are often presented at exhibitions in the Czech Republic and abroad.
