Philippe Nouail is a graduate of Fine Arts in Lorient as well as of the National Superior School of Decorative Arts in Paris. His painting can be violent, it disturbs, by its appearance of inconsistencies (collage, overlays…). But the rigorous staging and the careful detail show the coherence of the work and these themes, the revealed taste for color, material, tight framing, elsewhere. Since 1986 with “Itinerary Bis”, a collective exhibition in Benin, he has traveled with a propensity to return to Africa and to interpret the landscapes he encountered.
