José Antignani

France • 1950

Biography

His first work of art was sculpture. François Boucher was his teacher during his visit to the Beaux Arts in Marseille. Antignani quickly found his style, working with both marble and stone. But it is by the bronze that he himself melted that all his art flourished and seduced. Both sculptor and technician, Antignani is also a painter. His paintings, like his sculptures, are moments of intense emotion that the color will amplify. The artist draws from the source of life and anatomy. The shapes are daring; the stylized representations of his works are the expressions of his emotions. This is where all the talent and work of Antignani give the strength and the artistic dimension to the measure of his frankness as a man. Like his work, José Antignani is a character full of vitality, bubbling with ideas, multi-faceted, ready to face a new challenge: that his work is always in the movement of life.
