Jeanne Grihangne

I started my journey by training as a stylist. Design and color already played an important role. The desire to engage in the profession of painter imposed itself on my return from a trip to New York. At the same time, the Museum of Modern Art exhibited wild animals. This exhibition particularly marked me, and strong of this accumulated energy I started my research work.

I started by painting exclusively in oil, with a palette developed from primary colors.

From year to year, my gaze has asserted itself, my palette has grown richer. The discovery of acrylic paint marked a new turning point in my research, and particularly its use on paper, a medium that I like to be in contact with.

The aesthetic aspect is important when I deal with a subject, but I only show what strikes me. I observe my model until I see flat areas of color emerge. The drawing disappears in favor of a puzzle of shadow and light.

After devoting myself to portraiture for a long time over the past two years, my work revolves around plants.
