Biography

Katell le Goarnig is a French artist, born on 9th May, 1948 in Neuilly sur Seine and grew up in Kertalg in Moëlan-sur-Mer, in the Finistere region.

She moved to Quimper in 1963 and always had a passion for art since her childhood, she studied at the Ecole des beaux arts in Cornouailles. Her painting is figurative and her admiration for Pieter Bruegel the elder translated into an adherence to his figurative syntax and a subtle scale offset.

She is a painter-poet of Breton origin, Gornig creates paintings through her imagination. She works with music in the background or in silence, her paintings are created with the help of a rich palette and shades of colors which play along with light. A unique palette comprised of white, dark blue, red ocher, vermilion, all kinds of green, sometimes in creamy porcelain, with grainy touches that give importance to light, but at times in translucent glazes.

She celebrated her fifty years of creation and published her fifth album called «Polyphonie et Contrepoint».Her painting career began in Pont Aven in 1966 and this is where is where she earned a lot of success as a painter-engraver, her paintings are present all around Europe.
