Andora

Andora, pseudonym of Andreas Hoge (born June 7, 1958 in East Berlin) is a German painter.

He comes to art in a self-taught way. From 1983, he painted everyday situations, inspired by newspaper articles and implemented in neo-expressionist panels, in oil on canvas. From 1986 to 1988 he painted shoes in his own style. Alfred Biolek discovered it in a magazine and promoted his career. Andora paints selected everyday objects such as shoes, watches, bottles of champagne. In 1988, he designed the winter sports collections for the Reusch company.

Between 1992 and 1999, Andora commuted between New York and Moscow. Following the West project, he painted a rocket at the request of Roscosmos in 1992, which was then launched into space1. Fascinated by science, he trained as a cosmonaut parallel to his creative work.

He works on original US 1 dollar bills. Enthusiastic, Donald Trump invites him to Atlantic City. Andora does a portrait of him. The American government at the time reacted strongly: Andora was banned from entering the country while living in New York. Since then, the American administration and the artist have been trying to find a reconciliation.

In 1999 he returned to Hamburg and devoted himself to various projects, such as the design for the porcelain factory in Fürstenberg. Many works and objects were created between 2000 and 2006, which are summarized in the German Stocks catalog # 2. Mid-2007, he moved to Austria and the Wiener Tagebücher was born, a series of a different kind, during this phase, the artist deals with a different style of art and ceramics. From 2009 to 2011, he commuted between Hanover and Hamburg. Since 2012 he lives and works in Berlin.
