Mindaugas Gabrenas

Lithuania

Biography

Mindaugas Gabrenas is a Lithuanian photographer currently based in Paris.

A background in the humanities and social sciences nurtured her interest in people. A human presence is always present in his images, even if sometimes it is barely perceptible.

He uses the photographic medium as a method of self-reflection. Personal states of loneliness and perception of time are reflected in his works and one could read them, depending on the intensity, like poetry, prose or even an autobiography.

Mindaugas Gabrenas pays a lot of attention to the photographic act itself. He works in traditional film using a variety of medium format cameras, including some that he has handmade. His black and white prints worked in his own laboratory reflect a sense of calm and complete originality.

His photographs have been the subject of a number of solo and group exhibitions around the world.
