Gerard Palomeras

In 2003 I graduated in graphic design from Escuela Herramienta, and since then I have dedicated myself to both design and illustration, concentrating almost exclusively on the latter in recent years.

As a partner within Imnòtic I make drawings and have work in different spaces in Barcelona such as the Colegio Mayor San Jorge or the Hospital de San Juan de Dios. In addition to illustrations and images for reproduction, I dedicate myself above all to large-format mural painting on walls and unique works, working with all types of techniques and materials.

In recent years, driven by the need to find other means of expression beyond commissioned work, I have been creating a series of paintings where I develop one of the themes I know best: The City. A topic that I have dealt with professionally almost daily and about which I still have a lot to say. Fleeing at all times from the search for that which is stereotypically beautiful, curious or shocking, and instead searching for images that together transmit a real feeling of what the real city is made of, I continue painting a series of oil paintings where each one reflects that which is at the same time unique and fragment.

In both design and painting my main interest is the urban landscape, the shapes of the city, the background image turned into the protagonist. The view of the city, the urban fabric as a play of colors and shapes, and details, some of the many, many that we find in each neighborhood, each street, each block... there is no division between city and detail, continent and content, only different approaches. I paint a city invisible from so much sight, ignoring the human form and where everything is simultaneously repeated and unique.
