Biography

Anushka Jayasekera hails from a family of batik artists. Anushka did not gain any special academic training in art, but sheer perseverance and hard work turned him into a master of the brush. In the beginning, he says - he didn't even possess a paintbrush. He performed his paintings with coffee sticks and coconut husks.

Anushka's first art exhibition in 2004 at the Lionel Wendt was a tremendous success, and his subsequent exhibitions in 2006 and 2010 too were well received by the public.

His outstanding talent as a Visual Artist was all because of his dedication. His love for Heliconia flowers is clear in his impressive artworks. Flora and Fauna are some of the few elements that capture his imagination. He tries to recreate these unique patterns within small areas of nature and tries to emphasize them.
