“We see the act of painting as a means of discovery. The most exciting times are when something has chosen to predict we might have predicted happens on the surface.

The marks that make up the image plane are abstract moments of intuition which, in cohesion, relationships between the experiences that went into its making. We use abstract language to imbue paintings with a sense of the qualities of feeling that arise from trips taken together and from shared experiences which in turn spawn their own poetry.

We find that the care one encounters in the act of doing is of the utmost importance. Without this kind of meditation on the surface, the image plane would grow without integrity.

Our mediums give us the opportunity to learn new vocabulary. The more we discover how to use materials, the more means of expression we have. We use materials that are part of our heritage such as earth, plant and metallic pigments, natural glues and gesso. We find the preparation ritual important in that it allows us to understand the properties of the medium before application. We learn to be guided by the process of this natural alchemy. "
