Sofia Echa showcases the reflective quality of water on canvas and metal. Cloud-like tufts of waves serve as a creamy, soothing caress atop an angular, hard base. Her narrowly-defined and powerful vision is an analogy to life as a constant interplay of opposing “feminine" and “masculine" notions: light and dark, soft and hard, fluid and rigid.
These elements work in tandem and continuously recalibrate their ratios in order to reach equilibrium, for any given moment. Sofia's paintings inspire others to find a positive balance in life. She will continue to hold a special place in her heart for her native city Vladivostok, but it's with this poised perspective that she can confidently call New York City, “home".
