Romero Britto: Animals

"Art can capture the celebration of the simple and good things in life. This is what is most important to me." Brazilian artist Romero Britto is both a painter and a sculptor, producing artwork inspired by pop art, cubism and graffiti. As a consequence, his artworks are naturally full of bright colors and vibrant patterns. The artist is particularly fond of thick black lines to form the outlines of his subjects. The harmonious shapes and bright colors within his art are characteristic of his style. Not only does his art have a particularly recognizable look, but the artist also takes care to integrate his own signature within the many motifs which appear throughout his works. Through his art, he aims to convey messages of happiness, hope and optimism.

The Brazilian artist's themes are varied, but nature and the landscapes he saw as a child are a major source of inspiration. Britto depicts many animals in his artworks: butterflies, rhinoceroses, pink flamingos, cats. However, these animals are not intended to look realistic. They are painted in spectacular colors, and their backs are decorated with patterns like polka dots and stripes. Find more of Romero Britto's cheerful and colorful animal artworks on Artsper!
