Patrick Delorme

My name is Patrick Delorme, I was born in Marseille in the south of France in 1955. I started painting in my thirties and quickly, I did more than that. The second year, I made almost 300 paintings.

Today I just have to put myself in front of my canvas for something to happen, I never ask myself the question of what I'm going to do. I just start painting like the surrealists did, I apply color, without thinking too much about my gestures or shapes, I take my colors and I put them where I feel them. Very quickly, I compose the canvas as I go along, according to the different visions that appear to me. I let myself be guided by the inspiration of the moment, by the colors, by the shapes that I perceive.

The composition is done gradually, I remove, I erase, I scrape, I wipe, I cover, I add colors, I erase others, and the composition is built. Sometimes I leave the forms in the rough, simply sketched out, other times I refine my forms so that they are perceived more concretely, I do not always understand what is happening because everything goes very quickly and almost to my unknowingly. I create as one dreams, everything moves and gives me a multitude of visions, in an act where I am not conscious, in a second state guided by the harmony of colors, shapes. The theme, the subject, s 'impose on me, it seems to slowly emerge from nothing.
