David B. is one of the founders of the publishing house L'Association, which renewed the codes of French comics in the early 1990s.
After studying applied arts, David B. published his first drawings in various magazines (To be continued, Chic, Circus ...). His dream books, or rather nightmares, published by L'Association, then attracted attention. The intrinsic power of his dreamlike imagery is further amplified by his mastery of black and white.
Between 1996 and 2003, he created L'Ascension du Haut Mal, an autobiographical series in six volumes devoted in particular to the disease of his older brother, epilepsy. Unanimously hailed by critics, the 4th volume in this series will receive L'Alph'Art for the best screenplay at the Angoulême international comic book fair, with volumes 2 and 6 nominated for the Best Album Prize.
Today, in about fifteen years, he finds himself at the head of an abundant bibliography with more than sixty books, some as a screenwriter, then collaborating with designers as prestigious as Christophe Blain, Emmanuel Guibert, Joann Sfar or Hugues Micol.
He is now a member of the reading committee of the publishing house L'Association. In 2016, the Le Pavillon Blanc art center in Colomiers, Colomiers, and the Sainte-Croix Abbey Museum in Sables d'Olonne, devoted a personal exhibition to him.
