Christian Awe is a German abstract painter. He was introduced to street art as a teenager, when he would graffiti the streets of Berlin after the fall of the Berlin wall in 1989. Awe attended the University of Arts in Berlin, where he was taught by German artist Georg Baselitz. Awe's large-scale works are characterized by bright colors and influences of Abstract Expressionism, and he often scrapes away layers of paint or adds water to produce visual effects. His preferred mediums include acrylic paint, ink and lacquer. Dynamic in form and intense in color and scale, Awe's works evoke spontaneous movement, joy, and freedom.
At Artsper, we have curated a selection of artworks that use bright colors and non-traditional painting techniques like spraying, pouring and scraping, that recall Awe's abstract works. Nikolaos Schizas' works suggest free, uninhibited gestures through thick application of brightly colored paint. While privileging spontaneity of movement, Schizas creates abstract compositions that maintain balance and harmony. Lenor Bingham is an American artist also producing colorful abstract works, which emphasize form, color and composition using acrylic paint and ink. Join us today and dive into the world of colorful abstraction, with artists like Schizas, Bingham, and many more!
