Commanding Warriorcat: Candy Eternal Vigil introduces a surprising softness within Hiro Ando’s universe, where the legendary feline guardian appears in an unexpected candy-pink armor.
Part of the iconic series Neko Sculptural Symphony: Claws of Legends, the sculpture reinterprets the warrior archetype through the lens of Neo-Pop aesthetics.
Founder of the Crazynoodles studio and a major figure of the Japanese Neo-Pop movement, Hiro Ando fuses pop imagination with echoes of samurai heritage.
Standing 100 cm tall, the piece is crafted in glossy candy-pink resin, amplifying its playful yet monumental presence.
The bright pastel tone transforms the traditionally martial figure into a guardian that feels both protective and approachable.
Light glides across the polished surface, revealing Ando’s meticulous attention to volumes and sculptural balance.
Warriorcat’s stance remains firmly grounded, expressing vigilance and quiet strength despite its joyful chromatic treatment.
The large circular shields positioned behind the character reinforce the symbolism of defense and endurance.
Here, Ando deliberately contrasts sweetness of color with the gravity of the warrior posture.
The tension between toy-like proportions and heroic attitude produces a signature Neo-Pop paradox.
The kimono-inspired attire anchors the sculpture in Japanese cultural memory while remaining globally accessible.
Candy Eternal Vigil embodies a guardian figure adapted to contemporary visual culture and design spaces.
The rounded contours soften the character, making the sculpture both powerful and emotionally engaging.
Every sculpted detail, from clenched fists to garment folds, contributes to a narrative of protection and resilience.
The pastel palette enhances the work’s pop identity while maintaining monumental clarity.
Warriorcat thus becomes a bridge between pop innocence and heroic symbolism.
The piece demonstrates Ando’s mastery in transforming resin into emotionally charged sculptural icons.
This candy edition adds a playful and luminous chapter to the evolving feline saga of the series.
It stands as one of the most joyful interpretations within the Neko Sculptural Symphony.
Candy Eternal Vigil celebrates the coexistence of humor, nostalgia, and mythic guardianship.
For collectors, acquiring this sculpture represents an opportunity to secure a vibrant Neo-Pop work combining visual impact, cultural narrative, and strong collectible appeal.
Hiro Ando was born in 1973 on the island of Shikoku in Japan. Hiro Ando started his career as an illustrator in 1995. In 2005 he founded with Saori Nakamishi an artist studio in Tokyo to manage the creation and promotion of other young neo-pop artists who express their own popular culture in their creations. Today the studio "Crazynoodles" has ten artists.
Hiro Ando is a versatile artist. He works in oil on canvas, digital media or video. His technique consists of making several sketches before painting on canvas. The painting shapes itself and emerges in the streets of Tokyo at night, and combines lots of colors and graphics. Hiro paints dark cityscapes and goldfish all over the canvas.
The marriage of the two subjects makes the whole of the painting dynamic and violent, with a strange feeling of eternity given by the goldfish which recall old Japanese paintings and watercolors. The sculpture is a recent addition to the media used by Ando, who started working on a series of orange, green sculptures ... inspired by Japanese popular culture. Thus the cat, which is a lucky charm in Japan, like the Maneki-Neko, takes different forms such as the samurai or the sumo wrestler.
The artist translates this theme into a modern style. The shiny and smooth materials, the vivid colors, the brutal but rounded shapes of Hiro Ando's sculptures take us to the world of manga in which the artist's generation grew up. Hiro Ando's art is the meeting between the Meiji era and Manga, he is Shogun in the world of Pokemon, he is traditional Japan seen through the eyes of young people: he certainly belongs to Japanese neo pop art.
