Ivan Stratiev

He was born in Bulgaria in 1960.

In 1979, graduated from the Art High School "Ilia Petrov" - Sofia.

In 1984, graduated from Veliko Tarnovo University "St.St. Cyril and Methodius ", Faculty of Fine Arts, specialty“ Graphics".

 I paint in a wide range of styles: from realism and hyperrealism to surrealism and anachronism. I also experiment in the field of video art, performance and conceptual installations. As a basis for my work, I use painting in nature, in the open air and photography. I need my eclectic approach so that I do not limit myself to the realization of each specific idea and the way of serving.

I have been an independent artist for more than 25 years. I have complete freedom to take all the risks of relying only on myself in the struggle for survival. It turned out that this is possible when you are focused and dedicated to your work. Discipline is also required and, unfortunately, compromises have to be made. But I know that I always have a choice and the decisions are only mine. All this disappears when I stand in front of the white canvas and create a new world of my own.
