Roser Bru was born in Barcelona in 1923. The following year, her family was exiled to Paris, France, due to the dictatorship of Miguel Primo de Rivera. Four years later, they returned to live in her hometown where she studied at the Montessori School and later, in 1931, at the Institute-School of the Generalitat. After the Spanish Civil War, in 1939, he moved to France, where she boarded the ship from Winnipeg, which took her to Chile. She arrives in Valparaiso on September 3 of the same year. She studied painting at the School of Fine Arts at the University of Chile from 1939 to 1942, where he also studied Pablo Burchard and Israel Roa. In 1947, she joined the "Plastics Group" with other artists such as José Balmes, Gracia Barrios and Guillermo Núñez. In 1957, she began to study printmaking at Workshop 99, directed by Nemesio Antúnez. In 1995, she was honored by King Juan Carlos I of Spain who appointed her Commander of the Order of Isabella la Católica. In 2004, she received an Altazor Prize following a nomination in the category Visual Arts - Drawing and Printmaking, then in 2005, another nomination in the same category for the work in the exhibition Pablo Neruda, the childhood of the poet. In 2015, the Chilean government awarded him the National Prize for Plastic Arts.
