Presentation

Pascal Doury spent his childhood in an orphanage. It is very early that he binds with Bruno Richard, both have the same passion for drawing. They do not hesitate to offer caricatures and small comic strips to high school newspapers such as "Antirouille". In 1975, with Bruno Richard, they decided to create a review which they called "Elles sont de sortie". There are Yves Cadieu, Paltos Malto, Catherine Dard and Marc Careau. In 1976, Alin Avila and the "Limage" editions decided to collaborate by publishing "Elles sont de sortie" and published his first book "Sur un coup de nez, the last hour of forty hours". Fascinated by contemporary art, Alin Avila invites him to participate, with Bruno Richard, in the book "On a pas eu d'été", on a text by Pierre Tilman in which Peter Klasen, Jacques Monory, Christian Boltanski and Annette Messenger. For more than 15 years, Pascal Doury and Bruno Richard produced their works as a duo and it is from 1987 that Pascal Doury will develop independent work which will be presented at ELAC in Lyon, at the Musée d'Art Moderne de la city of Paris, at the Maison des Arts in Créteil and in 1991 at the Area gallery. His work, halfway between illustration and contemporary art, will have proposed a renewal of figuration. He died of cancer on September 13, 2001.
