Biography

Born in 1955, in Vincennes, Thierry Dehais trained in boiler making for three years.

From the age of 24, he runs a graphic arts company in Val-de-Marne. But he devotes his free time to sculpture, influenced by Alberto Giacometti and Auguste-Jean Gaudin.

His works have several facets, different materials: on burned wood, steel, bronze...

Pure wood carvings depict chainsaw-cut characters thrown into the fire, with great simplicity and solemnity, representations of lanky and moving bronze jazz musicians, as well as animals or human figures dictated by a work on the material which aims to say the essential (the sculptor realizes himself his patinas, in order to obtain the rendering of the lights to which his experience of the graphic arts accustomed him), the pieces of abstract steel, are the witnesses of a creation in "body to body" with this material and its manipulations: various shaping, tears, creases ...
