Presentation

Hugues Micol was drawn to drawing very early on and took his first steps in comics from primary school. He then entered the École Supérieure des Arts Graphiques in Paris in 1988, then became a free-lance illustrator.

He began his career as an author in the youth sector with the publisher Nathan. After a parenthesis of several years, Micol returns to his first love: comics. His meeting with Jean-Louis Capron is decisive. The latter, enthusiastic about his work, insists on working with him.

Micol accepts and, from their collaboration, is born the delirious western Chiquito La Muerte. On this crazy scenario of Capron, Micol explodes his talent and the originality of his style. Le Retour de Mananifek, the first album in this series, was selected in the Alph'art humor category in Angoulême in 2000.

For the publisher Cornelius, he produced a trilogy made up of albums 3, Séquelles and Tumultes. Begun in 2001, he will not complete it until 2015. There he completely renews the codes of adventure comics, thrillers and anticipatory narratives. During these years, he will collaborate with David B to realize an icy western Tierra del Fuego and the illustrative book Providence which installs Hugues Micol as one of the current most virtuoso designers of the 9th art. His working technique playing on transparency, the distortion of shapes, volumes, space and depth have no equal in contemporary drawing.

Passionate about the western, he published Scalp in 2017 as well as a series of drawings on this theme.
