Hélène Morbu

Hélène Morbu's work, between a spirit of geometry and a spirit of nesse, is based on a mastery of the material as much as a quest for balance and accuracy as well as an art of the line. The ceramist handles stoneware with skill and subtlety to model useful objects with great poetic power. Hélène Morbu develops a rigorous process around simple geometric shapes on which she projects meticulous technique and know-how. She develops a vocabulary of the line in creations of infinity and subtlety which suppose as much to be looked at as to be touched. The line gives body and life to the material enhanced by the addition of pigments or practices such as enamelling. Hélène Morbu revisits ceramics in a refined universe with the motif of the line that gives rhythm to unique creations.
