Biography

Haruhiko Sunagawa studied physics at the University of Sciences in Tokyo, then drawing and painting at Hammersmith College of Arts in London. He receive the Bourdelle sculpture award in 1991.

Haruhiko Sunagawa's work is focused on the representation of a straight line and geometric shapes in space. Through the representation of geometric shapes, dots and lines, the artist tries to recreate empty space. He uses notions that don't exist in the nature, in order to create a completely new natural space, because as the artist explains, geometry etymologically means the measurement of the earth.
